It's coming back, it's coming back, it's coming! Football's coming- alright shut it you English fans.
The Premier League has announced it will return on June 17th after the league was postponed in March due to the coronavirus outbreak. During this long absence away from the game, questions have been asked whether the league will resume or not.
Well we have our answer and the league will resume behind closed doors for the rest of the season, starting on June 17th. So what can we expect to see now the season will return?
Liverpool to Lift the Premier League Trophy in an Empty Stadium
Fortunately for Liverpool fans their long awaited dream of seeing the mighty Reds lift the Premier League trophy looks as if it's coming to an end, because let's face it, Liverpool are going to win the league. They're 25 points clear of Manchester City in second place with nine games to go.
However, with the plan for the rest of the season to be played behind closed doors, the Reds will get their hands on the big league title but with no supporters to see it happen in front of their own eyes. Likelihood is, the players will have to social distance during the trophy lift too.
The fans will have to watch it happen on their TV screens but hey, they'll be champions of England at the end of the day.
Let's All Go on 'Oliday! (Let's qualify for Europe)
With the news in February about Manchester City being given a ban from European competitions for next two years, fans of Manchester United, Wolves, Sheffield United and even Spurs must've been fist pumping the air.
Should City finish in the top four, it would open the door for 5th place to qualify for the Champions League. Meaning 6th and 7th would grab a Europa League spot.
With Leicester already in the top four and fellow underdogs Wolves and Sheffield United in contention for a European spot, it makes the battle against the big boys at the top of the table just that little bit extra exciting for the neutral.
Sheffield United came up from the Championship last season but welcoming the likes of Barcelona to Bramall Lane next year genuinely could happen.
An Exciting Relegation Battle
The relegation battle this year looks an exciting one with six teams down in the dogfight at the wrong end of the table.
Brighton, West Ham, Watford, Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich all face the possibility of relegation to the Championship.
Bottom club Norwich have been in the relegation zone since the beginning of October and have only won five matches all season in the 29 they've played. Many would tip them to be the first to go down.
Villa, Bournemouth and Brighton were in a bad run of form before the outbreak. Villa had lost four games on the bounce and Brighton hadn't won a game since the turn of the year. The 11 draws picked up by the Seagulls guided them to 15th in the table.
Nine games left, six teams involved, strap yourselves in.
Bad Hairstyles
To be a modern day footballer, you need to have the skills of course. But you also need that baller look too. A pair of flashy Nike Mercurials, white ankle tape, an under shirt and of course, a banging haircut or as footballers like to say a 'fresh trim' (I don't think professional footballers even know what the word haircut means).
Anyway we won't be seeing those fresh new fades or a number 2 on the back and sides. Instead we'll be seeing number 2 all over or the long hair look.
N'golo Kante now has hair, Jorginho looks like Cesc Fabregas and Roberto Firmino looks as if he's casting for the role of Jules in Pulp Fiction.
No Crowds
With the league set to be played behind closed doors, fans will have to cancel those away trips booked to some of the top grounds in the country. Get your refunds for those tickets and keep those cans of lager in the fridge (obviously drink before the expiry date) We won't be going on away trips for a while.
For those players who are due to play at Old Trafford behind closed doors. Imagine waiting all your life to play at one of the biggest grounds in the country, in front of 76,000 people, and then it turns out you'll be playing in front of 76,000 empty seats. It'll feel like playing in an under 23 game.
Player Shouts
Due to the empty stadiums, we'll be able to hear the sounds of the players communicating through the TV.
Could we actually hear players shout "don't let it bounce!!" or "put a name on it?" You know those classic Sunday league sayings? I think the answer to that could be no, but do try and listen out for them. It could be a right laugh!
It would be great if we all heard Jordan Pickford shout "don't let it bounce!" to the 6'5 giant Yerry Mina. Or Imagine Kevin De Bruyne shouting "test the keeper!!" to David Silva when it's 0-0 and City are looking for a goal against Arsenal? I mean Bernd Leno is pretty good to be honest.
