Has Manchester United Lost It's Identity?

With just 4 wins in 11 games in all competitions this season, questions are being asked about Manchester United Football Club and what direction the club is heading in. Some are pointing fingers at the players and owners, but most of the blame is going towards manager Jose Mourinho.
The special one has been in charge of United for just over two years. In that time he has won three trophies (English Community Shield, English League Cup, Europa League) three trophies in 2 years isn't bad but the style of football the Red Devils play nowadays is different to how it used to be. These three trophies are good but judging by United's standards, they're not the most attractive trophies. Back in the days when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge United played counter attacking football, not letting the opposition anywhere near their own goal. Nowadays, sides do not fear Manchester United as much as they used to do. The style of football is slow. The team lacks leaders. In the game against Valencia last night, I struggled to pick out a player who got the team going. The real question is, do the players want to play for Mourinho? Record signing Paul Pogba was one of the best players at the World Cup in Russia and is arguably one of the best in the world, under Jose Mourinho he hasn't looked at his best. January signing Alexis Sanchez looks a shadow of himself of the guy who played for Arsenal. The defence is sloppy and has been criticised a lot so far this season. The quality is there but something is surely holding these players back.
The woes started back in 2013 when the great Sir Alex Ferguson retired from his position as Man United manager. Ever since then the team have been appointing and sacking managers, signing players who don't make an impact, losing to average sides, getting booed off the pitch and the most painful of them all: not winning a Premier League title. Growing up I always saw United as an amazing side to watch that would hardly ever loose, dominate matches and win trophies. Now they are just blending in with everyone else.
